I can't say I have much information on this, but I ask that you please do further research on this. These kind of surgeries can be very threatening to one's body, and though they seem like a miracle some will a wry. As we all know good things will have bad side effects.

My friend had it, and it was very successful. She had to have it bec ause her weight and big boobs was messing up her back--she already had 3 back surgies. She weighed well over 330 pounds, and now she only weighs about 170 or so. She is very tall, so she isn't heavy at all. It took her about 3 months to feel normal again, but she was also recovering from the back surgery. G ood luck

I haven't personally had it done. My fiance's cousin has though.
I'm guesstimating, but compared to myself, she must've weighed probably about 300lbs or close to it.
I saw her almost a year after she had it done and she's lost ALOT of weight. Probably close to 100lbs.
I wish I could tell you how it went for her though, the ups and downs and all of that.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do though.

Weight loss surgery-like lap band surgery have become very common and very safe now. My cousin got her Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery in India. She has lost more than 65 lbs in 5 months and is very happy with the results. The price for obesity surgery is very less in India. My cousin just paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America. She got her surgery from a company called Forerunners Healthcare.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as Bariatric surgery and weight loss surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your Obesity surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com
Hope this helps.

I had Lap Band done 4-16-08 and I am down 25 pounds. I didn't have any problems. I had surgery about 10:30a.m that morning, in recovery room by 11:20a.m (wide eyed) had to stay there for one hour and went to my room (no pain, just a little discomfort from the incision where the port is located) got settled in the room and then I wanted to go walk, walked all over the hospital and I could have gone home by 2:00p.m but couldn't go to bathroom but did an hour later...home by 4:15p.m. (still no pain) I didn't even fill the pain medication that was given. You can drive as soon as you are off the pain medication (which I didn't take) but I was tired, so I drove Saturday after the surgery and been on the go ever since. I haven't had my first fill yet, it will be done 5-28-08, the surgeon said that will allow for the healing of the stomach. When going thru the stages of the diet you get tired of your choices at first but then each week you increase what you can eat. I eat the lowfat diet and I am doing okay. I know I can't eat white bread and refried beans, so far, but that doesn't mean I can't try them in a few months to see if I can.
Oh, I don't work so I can't tell you from experience how long that would take for me but my PCP nurse had it done on a Friday and she was back at work on Monday and she said she didn't have any problems and she had lost all her weight in one year. Hope this helps...Good Luck. the website is something that can tell you all about the surgery.
